Serif & Spine
Unlocking the “Literary Artisan” Concept
The client needed a visual system that felt deeply rooted in the history of printing and literature, yet modern and flexible. I developed a concept that bridges the tactile warmth of physical ink-on-paper with crisp, contemporary digital publishing.
Strategic Discovery & Positioning: I began by analyzing the self-publishing landscape to identify exactly where the client’s competitors were falling short visually. I mapped out a positioning strategy that separated Serif & Spine from budget-tier marketplace designers, focusing the messaging entirely on artisan-level craftsmanship.
Design Systems & Visual Rigor: Once the core identity was locked, I built out a robust design system. This included typography scales, grid structures, and UI components that ensured absolute visual continuity across the marketing site, portfolio pages, and client touchpoints.
Launch & Impact: Delivered a complete, responsive digital ecosystem and brand toolkit. The final design successfully elevated the studio’s market presence, allowing them to launch with a premium positioning that directly resonates with serious, career-minded independent novelists.
