Overview

I have been the graphic designer for Zoo Boise since 2015. In that time I’ve created two newsletters, materials for their large fund raising auction event, and created graphics for multiple events and physical signs yearly. I’ve also created collateral for their Capital Campaign, a special centennial logo, and a new zoo map.

Capitol Campaign

Zoo Boise has undertaken a large capitol campaign for an expansion in the last few years. Multiple brochures, flyers, signs, and ads were created to help raise awareness and money.

Now, in 2019, they have just opened the new exhibit! Invitations for multiple events were created (general public and donor opening event invitations). The hyena illustration on the opening invitation was provided by the zoo and drawn by Karen LeDoux.

Zoo Facility Map

With the new exhibit came the need for a new Zoo Boise campus map. The previous map was just an architectural site plan.

The deadline for the map creation was very short, so a simple flat vector style was adopted. Texture and variation may be incorporated in future updates.

Zootennial Logo

Zoo Boise wanted a special logo for use during it’s hundred year anniversary celebration. It was important that the logo evoke their existing logo, be legible on multiple background colors, and include the word ‘centennial,’ but otherwise I had some creative freedom.

The animal shapes are carried over from the normal Zoo Boise logo and the colors are bold and celebratory. The logo was used on printed materials and physical merchandise for the duration of the year.

Zoobilee

Each year the zoo holds a fundraising event called Zoobilee. 2017 focused on the future expansion, 2018 featured the addition of a new male lion, 2019 was inspired by patterns in contemporary African art, and for 2020 I created a minimalist geometric lion design.

Misc.

A sampling of various other graphics. A large graphic that became a laser cut sign for the education center, an instructional poster for the giraffe encounter, a graphic from one year’s spring break advertising, and a flyer for zoo venue rentals.
